Maiori

The Amalfi Coast is one of the most beautiful regions in Italy. Stunning views out to the sea, plunging cliff faces, towns built in to the steep slopes. It’s breathtakingly beautiful and one of the most picture perfect regions of the world I’ve ever visited. The mountains inland are perfect to explore with hikes in the forests or panoramic walks along ancient paths and mule tracks.

Maiori is a mountain commune and a fishing town and is famous for its beach – they have one of the largest on the whole Amalfi coast. The whole town is Maiori is dominated by the Castle of San Nicola de Thoro-Plano, rebuilt in the 15th century and which is well worth a visit.

We planned a 1/2 day trip to Maiori, but when we saw how small this town was, we spent about 3.5 hours in Maiori, strolled around the town and enjoyed the morning sun at the beach. There are a few towers on the top the hills, which we didn’t visit – but definitely worth the hike/ ride.
