First 5 facts about this building…
– the world’s largest and highest use-green-building
– has 101 floors & 5 basement floors
– The number 4 is considered an unlucky number in Chinese culture, so what would have been the 44th floor has been replaced by Level 43, with 42A replacing the actual 43 to compensate for the skipped floor number
– Taipei 101 is designed to withstand the typhoon winds and earthquake tremors that are common in the area east of Taiwan
– The main tower features a series of eight segments of eight floors each. In Chinese-speaking cultures the number eight is associated with abundan, prosperity and good fortune
We love those kind of high buildings, but we saw a lot, like in Berlin or Copenhagen, that’s why we didn’t spend a lot of time in that building, and it was the only one we had to pay entrance, everything else was listed as a sightseeing spot and free – which is great!
As explained in my former post we visited two sightseeing spots in the morning. 2.5 h for the National hall and 1.5 hours for the Taipei 101 building with an amazing breakfast and we weren’t stressed, the time was with us! See what we did in the afternoon in my next post!
